Publication Design
Publication Design includes magazines, newsletters, brochures, flyers and other printed communication pieces of varying sizes and uses produced to promote, support, supplement and aid a marketing program. The one thing in common with all of them is that they offer benefits to very specific target audiences.
The focus of this course is on the creative approach: first, determine what the communication objectives are, and second, decide on how to arrive at the solution. By the end of this course you would be able to design and create a publication from start to press ready.
What will be covered
- How to determine the objectives
- How to find a visual theme (graphic, font, color)
- How to determine size, format, stock, etc.
- How to make simple graphics in Illustrator and/or Photoshop
- How to use photographs effectively
- How to be dramatic with your fonts and colors
- How to present and get approval for your idea
- How to prepare your document for the printer
