Photography NC II (Recommended Courses) Package

The PHOTOGRAPHY NC II Qualification consists of competencies that a person must achieve to take pictures of people, places, objects, and events and tries to artistically capture and evoke a mood, feeling, or drama surrounding a particular subject using a camera. The work of a photographer is not only limited to the actual use of the camera and proper lighting, but also includes all of the steps in the development of the image up to the presentation of the final product.

If you want to get certified in Photography NC II, this package is highly recommended.

Digital Camera Fundamentals (1 day)

Course Details

If you're getting into digital photography, understanding digital cameras is absolutely essential. This comprehensive one-day seminar explains in simple terms what you need to know about buying the perfect camera for your needs. It describes the many camera features to consider, why they are important and how they affect your photographs. If you already have a digital camera, this seminar will give you a better understanding of your camera's capabilities and limitations.

Basic Photography (3 days)

Course Details

This hands-on workshop covers all the fundamentals of photography and is a good starting point for those who want to pursue specialized photography, like wedding, advertising, studio portraiture, etc.

This course caters to all kinds of participants — from amateurs to professionals in the making — and will cover digital SLR or Mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera and prosumer cameras. It will concentrate on basics of photography.

What will be covered

On the first day, you will spend the entire day listening to lectures, observing demonstrations, and participating in some hands-on activities. The second day will be devoted to actual shooting on location and evaluating the pictures you took. The first part of the third day will be spent evaluating the photos taken in the afternoon of the second day while remainder of the day will be spent on discussing the other topics not covered in the first day.

What to bring

The participant must have a digital SLR camera, a prosumer digital camera that has a manual exposure mode, a digital range finder camera, or a Mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera. Participants should also bring their camera charger and memory cards.

Note: You can use any brand of camera. Our workshops are designed to help you become a better photographer, whatever your camera’s brand.

Prerequisites

To be more prepared for this course, participants are advised to attend the Digital Camera Fundamentals seminar before taking this workshop.

Studio Portrait 101: Extraordinary Portraits of Ordinary People (3 days)

Course Details

It's great news if you measure the potential size of the market. Bad news if you're not trained to handle the ordinary-looking, the subject who has four left feet when posing, the unphotogenic, the overweight and underweight, the eyebags and big ears...in short, the average Joe. These are the regular clients of a commercial portrait studio in a mall or busy downtown area. Not professional models who still look perfect upside-down. Dail Deri photographs these types every day, and in this workshop she shares professional techniques for photographing students, office workers, housewives, businessmen, babies, and entire families.

This one-day seminar is an excellent introduction to Photoshop or any image-editing software. It lays down the foundation for understanding bitmap editing and digital photography.

Course Details

Learning by yourself often results in using the same 20% of Photoshop again and again. You also apply correction filters and adjustments without understanding the various options.

This focused, hands-on workshop guides you through the Photoshop fundamentals that will equip you to execute design projects. Included are lessons on layers (putting photos together), selecting and extracting parts of a photo, retouching, changing an object's color while retaining its texture, correcting off-color photos, removing defects, adding and manipulating text, and more.

Projects you can apply the techniques to range from print ads, marketing collaterals, Websites, and other communication materials.

Photography NC II Assessment (1 day)

Assessment Details

The assessment process seeks to determine whether the graduate or worker can perform to the standards expected in the workplace based on the defined competency standards. This ensures the productivity, quality and global competitiveness of the middle-level workers.

Assessment start at 8:00 am. Please come on time.

Application Requirements
  • Duly accomplished Application Form
  • Properly and completely filled-out Self Assessment Guide (SAG)
  • Four (4) pieces of colored, passport size picture, with white background, collared shirt, and name in front (passport size mug shot).
  • Photocopy of any valid government ID (with correct full name and spelling). Photocopy of birth certificate is also acceptable.
What to bring on the assessment day?
  • Digital SLR with kit lens or other kind of lens with wide to telephoto that the candidate has; If using a mirrorless camera, make sure the camera has a hot shoe and works with any remote flash trigger. Please bring your own adapter for the flash trigger if your camera needs one.
  • Formatted memory card. Memory cards should not contain any files.

Payment Terms and Conditions

Fifty percent (50%) downpayment is required upon registration. The balance can be paid in installments (cash, check or credit card). Payment schedule will be given upon registration. Downpayment is not refundable but transferable to other people or schedule.
